First  Visit

   This appointment is considered very important to both the patient and the office staff.  Because of this, we schedule 1.5 hours to spend with you. The visit begins with a:

• Tour of the office
• A review of sterilization systems
• Dental and Medical History review with Dr. Blank
• Dental Desires and Goals will be discussed
• Blood Pressure Screening
• Complete Oral Examination
• TMJ Evaluation
• Occlusal (bite) Evaluation
• Soft Tissue Examination
• Cancer Screening
• Dental Charting
• Computerized Periodontal Measurements
• Intra-Oral Video Imaging
• Study Model Impressions as needed
• Digital X-Rays  (filmless, lower radiation)  as needed for diagnosis
• Hygiene Fitness Evaluation and Score.
• Oral Hygiene Instruction and Practice.

     At the conclusion of the first visit you will be given a dental hygiene fitness score and other information to prepare you for the next visit.  The next visit is a "Treatment Planning Session".   Often patients begin their hygiene care at this visit.   You will recieve a type written description of your dental findings that will include: periodontal measurements,  the intraoral images that we viewed together, and treatment fees so that you can plan your dental care.   At this visit, Dr.  Blank will treatment plan with you and clarify any questiuons that you may still have. Treatment needs and options will be reviewed. If there are choices in treatment paths, your decisions will be noted in the chart and treatment will be finalized. Your input is crucial for developing a plan that will work for you. Long term success requires your desire to be healthy and follow through to meet the goals that we set together. You will receive:

• A type written copy of your Examination Findings
• A review of your Digital Radiographs (x-rays)
• Treatment Options.
• Alternate Treatments will be discussed if appropriate.
• A copy of your Periodontal Measurement Form
• Other materials related to your specific situation
• Fees will be presented in writting after the treatment plan is finalized with you.
• Financial Options will be reviewed as needed.
  

     We believe this will be the most thorough First Visit / Oral Examination you will ever have. We will make sure that you are comfortable and enjoy this experience. This will NOT  be like dental treatment of the past. This is the foundation to a good dental relationship that will allow you to achieve the best oral health possible, and with proper care, maintain that level of health for a life time.

  For patients with emergency needs, we will treat one emergency concern to aliviate pain or infection. After this visit, we ask that you return for the complete examination and treatment planning visit to avoid repeated emergencies. Emergency care usually does not lead to a healthy mouth in the long term. My goal is to help people be as healthy as possible.  There are other offices that cater to emergencies.
